Lough House
‘Lough House’, a rural dwelling nestled in the mountainous landscape of Ireland’s picturesque County Kerry. A family retreat, clad in slate walling, that blends effortlessly into the landscape of earthy green hues and honours the surrounding mountains and near by lough.
The 2800 sq ft property is compromised of the main cottage and further guest annex. Modern simplicity was the architectural approach to both spaces, with wide plank Douglas Fir flooring running throughout. Clean lines and curated vistas help to zone the space for optimum family living, while contemporary bronze accents work to compliment an array of large picture windows, that hero the view.
Naturally the interior pulls from the surrounding landscape, using various tones of green, russet and yellow, to create a convivial atmosphere. A selection of mohair, velvet, wool and bouclé are used across the furniture pieces that span contemporary classics to one-off vintage finds.
Collectible design from the likes of Mario Bellini, Gio Ponti and Arne Vodder anchor the scheme alongside bespoke joinery and custom made artisanal furniture pieces.
A minimalist smoked oak kitchen, designed in collaboration with London based 202 Design, is the focal point within the double height living space. While a selection of marble and glazed ceramics work to compliment the architectural envelope.
The rooms are layered with a selection of contemporary art and photography, adding character and playfulness alongside an edited selection of decorative objet, textiles and rugs. Making the space a modern, yet timeless home from home.
